Our story
A one-stop solution for skilled operators
A2Z International Heavy Equipment Institute was founded in 1978 to solve a simple problem: the construction and logistics industries needed skilled drivers and operators faster than they could be trained. Decades later, we are recognised as Kerala's No.1 heavy equipment training institute.
We are ISO 9001:2015 certified, Kerala's only JCB-authorised operator training institute, and a Heavy Equipment International Trade Test Centre. Every course is taught hands-on, on our own fleet of machines, so students get the real seat time that employers value.
Today we train more than 1,000 students a month across 19 branches in Ernakulam, Alappuzha and Kottayam districts, and we also welcome students from further afield across Kerala, from Kasaragod to Thiruvananthapuram. Students get government licensing support, trade-test preparation, hostel accommodation for those from out of town, and placement guidance for jobs across India and the Gulf.
The woman behind A2Z
Meet Driver Amma
Radhamani Amma · Co-founder, A2Z Institute of Heavy Equipments
She was once terrified of getting behind a wheel. Today she holds licences in more than 11 vehicle categories — from a family car to container trucks, trailers, forklifts, JCB excavators and tower cranes — and was the first woman in Kerala to earn a heavy-vehicle licence.
In 1984 that licence was effectively closed to women here, so she travelled to Mangalore to get it. Twenty years later, when she lost her husband and A2Z's founder T.V. Lalan, she took the business over herself and grew it into 19 branches training over 1,000 students a month.
She still turns up on site, still teaches, and still operates the machines herself — which is exactly why so many women enrol here to learn heavy equipment without a second thought.

The road here
1978
A2Z is founded
Her husband, T.V. Lalan, starts the driving school that would grow into the A2Z Institute of Heavy Equipments.
1981
Her first licence
Terrified of driving at first, she practises until the fear is gone — and earns her four-wheeler licence with Lalan’s encouragement.
1984
The heavy-vehicle licence
Heavy licences were all but closed to women in Kerala, so she travelled to Mangalore to earn hers — becoming the first woman in Kerala to hold one.
2004
She takes the wheel
After Lalan’s death she takes full control of the business, and with her children and grandchildren turns early setbacks into a thriving institute.
